About Troop 31

Rochester's oldest and most storied Boy Scout troop

Boy Scout Troop 31 is the oldest Boy Scout troop in the city of Rochester, New York, celebrating 112 years of continuous scouting service since our founding in 1913. Over more than a century, we have shaped thousands of young men into the leaders, citizens, and community pillars that make Rochester great.

We are chartered by Third Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Meigs and East Avenue — a partnership that has provided a stable foundation for our mission for decades.

Our troop offers a comprehensive program of camping and outdoor adventure, merit badge achievement, leadership development, community service, and high adventure. We believe the skills and values learned in scouting prepare young men for success in every area of life.

The troop has attended Massawepie Scout Camps since 1952, participated in multiple National Jamborees, and sent crews on high-adventure expeditions to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and Sea Base in the Florida Keys. Our Eagle Scout alumni include doctors, lawyers, engineers, military officers, and civic leaders throughout Rochester and beyond.

Our annual Christmas Tree Sale, now in its 73rd year, is both a beloved Rochester tradition and the primary fundraiser enabling all of our troop's activities. Every dollar raised goes directly to support youth programming.
