The BSA emblem — the Fleur-de-lis — is one of the most recognized symbols in the world, representing the values of the Scout movement since Lord Robert Baden-Powell founded scouting in England in 1907.
The three points of the fleur-de-lis represent the three promises of the Scout Oath: Duty to God and country, duty to others, and duty to self.
The two stars represent truth and knowledge. The eagle shield represents national pride. The scroll bears the Scout motto, "Be Prepared," and the knot at the bottom reminds Scouts to do a good turn daily.
